Better late than never, the semi-latest Gingerbread iteration of Android has finally landed on the LG Optimus Black.
The update, version 2.3.4 to be precise, is currently being rolled out in India and across Europe via LG’s Mobile Support Tool and brings an array of improvements to the platform - including a revamped UI.
Other standout additions include one-touch word selection and copy & paste functionality, improved power management and an all-round better "gaming experience". There’s also an updated download manager, support for new media formats (think: AAC, AVC, MPEG-4 and H.263) and updated versions of various widgets and native apps.
Surprisingly, the update is actually three paces older than the more recent 2.3.7 release. However, aside from bug fixes and optimisations there aren’t any major differences between them, so you’ll still enjoy all the tasty treats Gingerbread has to offer.
Better yet, LG has previously confirmed it will be bringing the latest Ice Cream edition of Android to the Optimus Black this year, which is expected to drop sometime in Q3.
