Specs for the Samsung Galaxy S3 have apparently cropped up online, ahead of its anticipated launch at next month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC).
Eldar Murtazin, editor of Russian tech site Mobile Review and sometime industry analyst, claims to have an S3 in his possession already. And, never one to keep schtumm with sensitive information, he’s been sharing the spec-sheet gen on Twitter.
Updates from our loose-lipped friend apparently confirm rumours that the phone will be powered by an ultra-brawny quad-core processor and that it’ll rock Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, out of the box. So far, so familiar.
More interestingly, he also disclosed that – and this is a new one, on us at least – the S3 will tote a 12 megapixel camera, putting it well out in front of the current-gen Android kits when it comes to imaging.
Completing what’s shaping up to be a pretty jaw-dropping package is an HD screen, he claims, as Sammy looks to go one better than the S2’s winning Super AMOLED display.
Entirely missing from Murtazin’s testimony, though, are some of the more fanciful rumours that have been doing the rounds about the S3. That means any of you holding out for HTC Evo 3D-style 3D media playback and a flexible screen are likely to be disappointed for now.
Us? We’re just positively salivating at the prospect of what already sounds like a shoo-in for the year’s best Android effort. Roll on Sammy’s MWC showcase...
