Sony Ericsson (SE) will lift the lid on some new Xperia handsets next month, a Mobile World Congress 2012 (MWC) press invite suggests.
The invitation confirms that the phone-maker will host an event on the eve of the tech expo on February 26th, at which SE promises us “the latest news from our Xperia smartphone portfolio”.
Although, there’s no specific mention of any new handsets, we’re pretty sure that’s a signal we’ve got new kits to look forward to, at what promises to be one of the last-ever events branded under Sony Ericsson after the joint venture announced its split late last year.
The likelihood of all-new smarties landing at the event was lent further credence today by the appearance online of what looks like a leaked SE roadmap for 2012 apparently revealing the company's plan to release 12 handsets this year.
Assuming the document is authentic, the first of these are due to land in shops in April, with price points that place them firmly in the mid-range market.
Among those 12 smarties is expected to be the company’s first-ever Windows Phone, after snaps cropped up online showing an SE handset running Microsoft’s OS.
