The iPad 3 will be unveiled to an expectant tech world in early March, reports suggest.
According to unnamed but purportedly reliable sources cited by iMore.com, the third-generation tablet from Apple will tip up on March 7th, no doubt in a typically all-the-bells-and-whistles press call in sunny Cali.
In news to cheer Apple apostles everywhere, the same source claims the slate will rock a 2048×1536 Retina display – something that’s been tipped as an iPad fixture since the months leading up to the release of the last iteration.
Rounding off the package, we’re assured, is a quad-core A6 processor to keep everything ticking over smoother than an album of Yacht Rock jams.
And in the US at least, 4G support is on board. Verizon and AT&T are reportedly both offering the slate on their LTE networks from launch, an unrelated source cited by the Wall Street Journal claims.
News of Apple’s plans for its latest tilt at a tablet follows the somewhat muted response meted out to the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S in some quarters of the tech press, with both devices criticised as underwhelming iterative updates.
