The next-gen iPhone could be with us in just five months time, reports suggest, with Apple reportedly planning to return to early summer launch dates for new smarties.

According to a brokerage cited by Chinese language site Commercial Times, the phone informally dubbed the iPhone 5 will surface at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

Assuming that’s so, it would mark a return to Apple’s formerly regular-as-clockwork June refreshes for the iPhone. The company only broke this sequence with the iPhone 4S, which landed in October due to reasons that have yet to be fully explained.

The report, which was translated by DigiTimes, also corroborates previous rumours that Apple will opt for a larger screen this time around.

Apparently, the display will be a glass-to-glass touch panel, suggesting that Apple could retain the dimensions of its current-gen handset but make room for more screen real estate by dispensing with the phone’s bezel.

Alas, other spec sheet details weren’t revealed. But if we can believe the tech rumour mill, the iPhone 5 will also be home to a quad-core processor, 4G support and Near Field Communications tech for contactless payments.
