The Sony Xperia S is up for pre-order now across a range of carriers and monthly contract options.
Would-be buyers can browse contracts and sign up for the phone now on Vodafone, O2 or partner networks Orange and T-Mobile at third-party retailer BuyMobilePhones.
Prices start at £21.50 per month with O2. Choose that tariff and you’re in line for monthly allowances of 500MB of data, 100 call minutes and 500 texts per month – a fair old return considering you’re also getting a brand new phone for free.
Set to be the first Xperia phone to hit the market since Sony split from long-time mobile partner Ericsson, the Xperia S teams Android 2.3 out of the box with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor to keep things ticking over.
A 4.3-inch HD screen is also on board, alongside a 12-megapixel camera and secondary front-mounted snapper for video calls.
An upgrade to the new Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android for Xperia S owners is pencilled in for later this year.
This is set to bring with it new features such as face detection screen unlock technology, a revised multi-tasking interface and all-new versions of native apps.
