HTC Android Ice Cream Sandwich line-up revealed

HTC has officially disclosed a full list of smartphones that are in line to receive an Android 4.0 - aka Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) - update in the coming months.

The confirmation conveniently comes on the same as Samsung’s announcement that ICS is currently being rolled out to its best-selling kit the Galaxy S2.

“We’re in the early stages of rolling out Android 4.0 for the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE and upgrades will be more widely available in the next few weeks. The update for the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow.

“Please note, once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update. We are working closely with our carrier partners to nail down update schedules for our other smartphones and will have more to share very soon.”

The latest refresh of Google’s fast-growing OS brings numerous improvements, including a revamped UI, performance optimisations and an all-round smoother user experience.

That’s not all. There’s also updated versions of native apps, plus the introduction of the Chrome mobile browser. Elsewhere, there's Face Unlock that does what it says on the tin and Android Beam, which lets NFC-enabled phones to exchange content by simply touching them together.

Alas, HTC did not reveal any dates for when the updates are due to land. However, we expect the majority to be rolled out by the end of Q2. Here they are:
