Preorder units for Apple’s latest iPad have already run dry, the company has revealed.
Demand for the iPad 3 – or New iPad – as it’s being called, has gone “off the charts” according to an Apple spokesperson, forcing the tablet-maker to delay shipments to March 19th.
This means customers who preordered a unit could face an additional three days of waiting to get their hands on the slate, unless they queue up at a store for a chance to pick one up on day one.
Apple is keeping mum, however, as to how many units have been actually preordered, and more importantly how many had been allocated in the first place, as it’s no secret the Cupertino-based giant revels in the obscenely long queues for its product launches.
Whatever the case, the New iPad looks already set to be a major commercial success for Apple, despite its confusing name – or non-name, as some might say.
