O2 has made Android 4.0, A.K.A Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), available for Samsung Galaxy S2 owners, bringing some smart new features to the 20 million-selling Android smartie.
The carrier confirmed ICS had cleared its testing process and is now up for grabs through Samsung’s Kies download solution via a post on its official UK Twitter feed.
O2 stated: “Never too early for an Ice Cream Sandwich - O2 customers with Samsung Galaxy S2s can now get Android 4.0 through Kies. Enjoy!”
A spate of customer comments suggests there may be a wait in store for you early on, however. At least until the initial rush of would-be updaters subsides and there’s less demand for the servers, that is.
Features the latest version of Android adds to the phone include an improved, faster browser, improved battery life and the Face Unlock security feature.
Prior to O2 releasing the update, Three was the sole UK carrier to have bumped its Galaxy S2-owning customers to ICS.
However, Britons who invested in unlocked phones and would normally expect to be first in line when update love is being spread around are apparently still waiting for their upgrade.
