Temple Run is at last about to cross the OS divide from iOS to Android, the studio behind the massive iPhone hit has confirmed.
Imangi Studios’ title, which has racked up a whopping 40 million downloads in six months on iOS while achieving a level of mass-market ubiquity on public transport not seen since Angry Birds, will finally make its debut on Android smartphones on March 27th.
Keith Shepherd, one half of the husband and wife team that founded the studio, said: “We are excited to finally share the Android release date with our fans who have been so enthusiastic and supportive of Temple Run.
“By expanding to more mobile devices, we hope to provide the same addictive and fast-paced gameplay to an entirely new group of players.”
Free-to-play, Temple Run takes its inspiration from Saturday morning adventure serials of the 1930's and is currently the biggest-grossing app in the iOS App Store.
