Windows Phone wins out as the aesthete’s choice of smartphone over the iPhone and Android, according to famously loose-lipped Apple founder Steve Wozniak.
Holding court in a radio interview with A New Domain, the Woz claimed that Microsoft’s platform’s apps and tile-based user interface, which took its design cues from airport signage, is a more beautiful creation than iOS and Android.
He said: "Just for looks and beauty, I definitely favour the Windows 7 phone over Android.
"I'm kind of shocked on every screen - [they’re] much more beautiful than the same apps on Android and iPhone.
Not satisfied with lavishing that sort of high praise on Windows Phone, the Woz, who is no stranger to off-message pronouncements and now holds an honorofic position at Apple, then went one better.
According to Wozniak, so handsome is design doyenne Joey Belfiore’s-helmed OS that when he saw it he “surmised that Steve Jobs might have been reincarnated at MS”.
The Apple man’s latest rogue remarks follow previous calls for the tech giant to make its operating system more open, as well as his impolitic disclosure that the launch delay with the white version of the iPhone 4 was down to camera light leakage problems.
