Google releasing Chrome for Android final release in next few weeks

Google has officially confirmed it is nearing the end of the beta testing phase for the Chrome Android browser.

Chrome Beta will graduate to gold status “in a matter of weeks” according to Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Chrome and Apps for Google.

Although Pichai didn’t reveal exactly how many weeks, we expect the final build to be here by the end of May.

"We launched beta 2. We addressed a few things," said Pichai.

"Mainly right now, I'm driven by bug quality and stability. We are triaging, tracking, and trying to make it very stable. It is in a matter of weeks."

Since landing back in February, the search giant has regularly updated the browser, making performance optimisations, as well as zapping bugs. Recently it added a desktop mode that allows users to easily switch between mobile and desktop versions of sites.

Although Google has not said it yet, Chrome could eventually phase out the stock Android browser. For the time being, though, they are expected to coexist.
