Samsung Galaxy S2 owners on Vodafone won’t be getting an update to the latest version of Android today after all, after the carrier was forced to delay the upgrade.
O2 and Three customers with an S2 have already got their two scoops of Android 4.0 (A.K.A Ice Cream Sandwich or ICS). And those on Voda had been due to join them today, with the option to get it via Sammy’s proprietary download solution Kies or as a simpler over-the-air download.
Not now they won’t. As a post on Vodafone’s forum reveals, the carrier has been forced to postpone the platform bump, apparently due to hitches at Sammy's end.
As a result, ICS is now set to be available from tomorrow from Kies. But if you want to grab it over the air, you’re going to be kicking your heels until April 17th.
Vodafone stated: “Unfortunately Samsung have told us this morning that they are unable to make the update available to you as planned.
“I know a lot of you, like us, will be disappointed at this last minute change of plan and we continue to challenge Samsung to make this available to you as quickly as possible.”
Features ICS brings to the S2 include Face Unlock security, better multi-tasking and swizzy new versions of native apps.
