Samsung Galaxy S3 specs leak in Asian video

A hands-on video purporting to show the Galaxy S3 has surfaced online, confirming much of we’ve been led to believe will be on board the soon-to-land handset.

Picked up on by Engadget after appearing first on Vietnamese site Tinhte, the clip corroborates rumours that the handset will feature a larger, 4.6-inch screen with 720x1,184 pixel resolution.

Also present and correct is a 1.4GHz quad-core processor to bring the handset in line with its closest competitors, the HTC One X and LG Optimus 4X, as well as Near Field Communications (NFC) support for contactless payments.

And rounding off the package is 16GB of on board memory and microSD card support.

The existence of disguised S3 units out in the wild means we don’t know that this is the phone’s finalised design, the clip does seem to confirm one thing.

That's that like other Ice Cream Sandwich powered kits, the S3 will dispense with front-facing physical buttons in favour on on-screen pressers.

However, there are some surprises. And they’re not necessarily nice ones either.

Disappointingly, Samsung has apparently opted to retain the Galaxy S2’s eight megapixel camera. Rumours suggested a 12 megapixel snapper was more likely.

The mooted waterproof coating the innards of the S3, which would have been a boon for accident-prone smartphone owners everywhere, also appears to be missing from the S3's spec sheet.

The video has since been taken down from Tinhte. But you can still see it on Engadget
