The Samsung Galaxy S3 will smash sales records for Android handsets, an analyst forecasts, burnishing Sammy’s credentials as the only viable challenger to Apple at the top of the smartphone tree.
In an interview with The FT, CCS mobile analyst Ben Wood backed the handset to surpass the “eye-watering” success of the S2. Given that the S2 has racked up unit sales of 20 million-plus and counting, that’s some numbers.
Wood also corroborated rumours that the phone, set to be officially unveiled later today, will be home to “a stunning display and a top-of-the-line processor”, all of which will be packed in a “super thin” shell.
This tallies with speculation that Samsung has equipped the S3 with an Exynos quad-core processor and a Super AMOLED HD Plus screen of between 4.6 and 4.8-inches.
We’ll find out for sure what’s on board the ‘Next Galaxy’ at 7pm tonight when Samsung lifts the lid on its new challenger at a Samsung Unpacked press call in London.
