Almost nine out of ten Android smartphones sold in Blighty are made by Samsung and HTC, latest figures from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech reveal.
The Asian giants are practically dominating the market with a staggering 86 per cent share, thanks to the success of Samsung’s Galaxy range, and the newly released HTC One X.
Android on the whole is on the rise, commanding an enviable 50.1 per cent share of the UK smartphone market, up from 44.6 per cent last year.
However, other manufacturers fared less well. Sony, for example, slipped to 10.4 per cent, while LG managed less than a measly one per cent.
Samsung, which has transformed itself into one of the biggest tech companies in the last two years, is set to strengthen its grip on the smartphone crown further with the impending launch of the Galaxy S3, which hits store shelves on May 30th.
