A video purportedly showing the back panel from the iPhone 5 has cropped up online, seemingly burnishing rumours of a redesign for Apple’s smartphone.
The clip apparently features a part that first cropped up late last month and would appear to corroborate speculation that the handset will be taller and will reposition the antenna.
Also very much in evidence is an all-new, much smaller dock connector and a repositioned audio jack at the bottom, suggesting that Brit design doyenne Jonathan Ive has rethought the phone after retaining the iPhone 4’s feel for the 4S.
Intriguingly, the show and tell-er in the clip posits that the phone could also feature a new standard of SIM card. Based on the width of the tray slot, he predicts that this will be smaller than the microSIM.
Apple is expected to lift the lid on its sixth-generation smartphone in September or October, with a spec sheet that takes in a more powerful processor and an improved version of its deservedly excoriated voice assistant Siri.
