Samsung is reportedly working on Apple FaceTime-styled video chat for its ChatOn proprietary cross-platform messaging service.
Tentatively dubbed ‘Video ChatOn’, the as-yet unofficial upgrade will offer ‘free’ video conferencing over not only Wi-Fi, but 3G and 4G networks, too. Plus there’ll be close integration with contact information on the device, which we presume will enable users to see which of their contacts have ChatOn installed and possibly even their status.
And since it’s a cross-platform app, we’re thinking video chat will be supported across the board between users of Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Bada and BlackBerry devices. However, it’s almost sure to land on Android first.
Unfortunately, a timeframe as to when the service may launch is still unknown. But as soon as we have more gen, you’ll be the first to know.
