Touchscreens may be all the rage now, but keyboard phones are still relevant. Or at least that’s what a freshly leaked Samsung handset suggests.
Codenamed GT-B5330 and teaming Android Ice Cream Sandwich and a QWERTY keyboard, it’s unclear whether the smartphone will be a part of the Galaxy family or just one of those orphan phones targeted at handpicked territories and user groups. SammyHub, which managed to grab hold of some snaps, says it may be intended for markets where keyboard kits, particularly BlackBerrys, are still in demand.
It also sounds like an entry-level effort, featuring mostly bottom-of-the-barrel specs that include a QVGA (320x240) resolution display of unspecified size (we’re thinking 3.2-inch at best) and a CPU with a max clock speed of 850MHz.
Still, its real appeal is likely to be the fact it runs the tasty Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and has a physical keyboard for faster messaging and working on the go.
Pricing and release details are anybody’s guess right now. But we’ll be sure to let you know more when you have that info.
