Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is now up for grabs for Sony Xperia Mini owners, as the compact blower becomes the latest smartphone to get a swizzy overhaul to Android 4.0.
Available now for Mini users who bought their phone off-contract, SIM-free and without network livery, ICS adds a suite of new features to the Xperia Mini.
These take in the much maligned Face Unlock security boost that uses face recognition technology to ensure that the phone will only unlock for owners. Unless you happen to have a sneaky snap of them, that is.
Less exciting, but still very welcome, additions are a range of performance enhancements, as well as more control over your data consumption and resizable widgets for customising the homescreen.
Sony has also recently pushed out ICS to unlocked editions of the Xperia Mini Pro and the Xperia S – one of the first phones to come from the tech giant since it split with former-mobile partner Ericsson.
Networks are expected to start rolling out the update to contract handsets in the next few weeks.
