The rumoured black edition of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has cropped up in the inventory of one of the UK’s largest phone-retailers, as evidence mounts that the handset is due a natty achromatic, light-absorbent respray.
A photo of the S3 in black, which is currently only available in pebble blue, marble white and the special Olympics edition featuring Union Jack livery, cropped up last week in a couple of informal snaps on Samsung’s official Facebook page.
However, in the absence of any kind of official announcement from Sammy and the company’s status as an Olympics partner, it was thought that the phone in the picture might have been a special edition for very important personages only.
Not so, it seems.
Today, Android Police has sourced snaps of the black edition listed in Carphone Warehouse’s inventory, suggesting that the black S3 isn’t a celeb-only limited edition but is in fact due a proper release.
The emergence of a new Galaxy S3 colourway follows the recent sighting of a red version, which looks to be a US exclusive. Initially, anyway.
