Samsung could be readying a smaller, cheaper version of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, rumours suggest.
According to Android fansite The Droid Guy (TDG), the unofficially dubbed the S3 Mini will reportedly go mano-a-mano against the iPhone 4S while its larger sibling takes on the soon-to-land iPhone 5.
Features it’s expected to bring include a four-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, a dual core Exynos processor and a five-megapixel camera. TDG reckons it will sell for $200, making it quite a bargain for what you’ll get.
It begs the question, however, whether Samsung would want to dilute the ‘premium’ name of the Galaxy S3 by associating it with a cheaper model.
Also unclear is when the handset will hit shop shelves, what with iPhone 5 set to launch imminently which will inevitably lead to a price drop for the iPhone 4S.
Of course, it’s just a rumour at this point. So take it with a healthy grain of salt. We’ve yet to uncover any evidence that such a device exists or is in the pipeline, but when we do, you’ll be among the first to know.
