An official app for Sky’s freshly launched video-on-demand player Now TV is now available to download on the App Store and Google Play, enabling users to enjoy Sky’s movie programming even on the move.
Now TV, for the uninitiated, is a standalone, web-based service that offers takers unlimited streaming of 11 Sky movie channels and up to five new premieres every week for a monthly subscription fee of 15 squids.
Now, yes, now, users can watch all of that while they are commuting, answering nature’s call and whathaveyou via a dedicated app for the iPhone, the iPad and a very small number of Android handsets that include: HTC’s Desire, Desire HD, Desire S, Incredible and Sensation and Samsung’s Galaxy S, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Nexus smartphones.
No, we didn’t mistakenly leave out the Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X. Even though both handsets support Sky Go, which offers a very similar function to Now TV, they aren't invited to the party. Yet.
A Now TV representative said: "Although the Sky Go and Now TV apps have similarities, there (are) also a few significant differences which prevent the Now TV app functioning correctly on the Samsung Galaxy S3.
"Rest assured our developers are working diligently to get the app working as it should on more handsets including the Galaxy S3."
Those of you who baulked at the subscription fee can take advantage of a free 30-day trial to make up your minds. If you’re a more casual viewer, you can also ‘Pay & Play’ digital rentals for up to 1000 titles for between 99p and £3.49 depending on their age.
Download Now TV for free for the iPhone, iPad and Android.
