Spec-sheet details and images of the iPad Mini have surfaced online, ahead of its putative release date in October.
Apple.Pro claims to have had some hands-on time with the smaller slate and reveals that the slate will pack an eight-inch display rather than the 7.85-inch screen that a slew of leaks on the iRumour mill suggested.
Also on board – at least on the model the Taiwanese site used - is 3G support. This feature was among those that some thought Apple would ditch to keep the tablet’s asking price down.
Noticeable from the pictures too is that the slate will pack a smaller bezel, dual speakers and the same, smaller dock connector that is also mooted to feature in the next-generation iPhone.
Apparently set for release during October, the smaller iPad is seen as Apple’s attempt to head off the challenge of the similarly proportioned, affordably priced Google Nexus 7, as well as yet-to-be-unveiled Android slates from Amazon.
Apple’s effort is expected to retail at between £249 and £299.
