The latest, chewiest Jelly Bean iteration of the Android operating system will begin rolling out to the Galaxy S3 next month, Samsung has revealed.
In a bid to claim back some of the tech column inches being dominated by the recently unveiled iPhone 5, Samsung has officially confirmed that the much-awaited Jelly Bean upgrade for its flagship kit will be along sometime in October.
Alas, a concrete due date wasn’t forthcoming but at least now you have an ETA. Although it’s worth remembering that it’ll be the unlocked versions to make the leap first, with those bought on contract facing the usual wait that comes with networks’ compatibility and quality assurance testing.
Those of you still rocking a Galaxy S2, meanwhile, will be pleased to know that Jelly Bean is coming to your handsets, too. Samsung Denmark revealed in an official statement that an update should be ready for over-the-air release in November.
Again, this likely applies to S2s bought outright, so if you’re on a contract still, you might have to wait just a bit longer. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we have more details. So keep ‘em peeled.
