The latest version of Android is now available for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Google Nexus S, as the timely arrival of updates once again highlights the advantages of opting for a handset running a vanilla version of Google’s OS.
User testimonies from Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S owners indicate that Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is up for grabs as an over the air download, bringing with it some very welcome improvements.
Among these are solutions for glitches, performance enhancements for a smoother smartphone experience and new features, such as the option to expand notifications with a single finger scroll.
The arrival of the update comes as owners of most other blockbuster Android phones from the last 12 months are still hanging on for an upgrade to version 4.1 - the original version of Jelly Bean. Not least users of the Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X.
The update for these handsets will have been delayed by the need to ensure that Jelly Bean works with manufacturers’ custom skins/interfaces, which have been overlaid over the standard, unadorned edition of Android.
