The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini 8GB edition is up for pre-order now in the UK, offering most of the key features of its bigger brother but for an outlay that’s very much mid-range.
UK SIM free specialist Clove is selling the more compact version of Samsung’s flagship phone for just shy of £299 when bought outright and off-contract. That ought to equate to a price point of between £25 per month for when it lands on free-phone contracts.
Unveiled yesterday, the S3 Mini’s spec sheet takes in a five megapixel camera (down from eight megapixels on the standard S3) and trades that phone’s 4.8-inch display for a more wieldy 4-inch Super AMOLED screen. To further keep costs down, a dual-core processor has been substituted for the S3’s quad-core beast.
Elsewhere, the handset packs Android 4.1 (AKA Jelly Bean) out of the box and the same software tweaks that made the S3 stand out from the Android pack, such as the S-Voice Siri-rivalling voice commands app and a smart sleep mode for when you’re watching movies.
