The latest version of Android is available for download now for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, adding some welcome new features to the last year’s Nexus flagship phone.
Up for grabs as an over-the-air download, Android 4.2 (AKA Jelly Bean) brings with it support for Photosphere. That’s the rather smart panorama camera mode that takes its inspiration from Street View in Google Maps and enables you to take what Google dubs “360-degree photos”.
Also new with the operating system bump is Gesture Typing (the Swype-alike app that aims to simplify and speed up touchscreen typing) as well as “many more features and improvements, including great new cards in Google Now”.
As is pretty much always the case with any platform ugrade, Google promises us some improvements to performance and stability too.
The arrival of Jelly Bean for 2011’s Nexus contender comes as this year’s model, the LG Nexus 4 hits retail in the UK today.
