Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.1.2 not due until January?

Samsung Galaxy Note fanciers could face a long wait to get their mitts on Android 4.1.2, it has emerged, amid indications that Samsung still has much to do to ensure the new software works with its debut phablet.

Citing sources familiar with goings-on down at Samsung, SamMobile reveals that although owners of the older Galaxy S2 can likely pencil in their update any day now, the version of the software for the Galaxy Note “still requires a lot of work ‘till they start rolling out final updates to the users”.

As a result, it’s now not likely to roll out until December or January, the ever-reliable sorts at the Samsung fansite predict. And even then, it will most probably be reserved for unlocked versions of the device.

Note owners who bought the phone on a monthly contract will be forced to wait until their carriers run the rule over the software and ensure it is compatible with their services and such like.

When it does land, however, it’s well worth the wait, bringing with it a host of features that include the multi-view multiple windows feature that debuted on the Note 2, a new notifications system, access to Samsung Cloud Services and the SmartStay intelligent sleep mode.
