The new, but still elusive 64GB version of Samsung’s best-selling Galaxy S3 is finally available to pre-order for customers in the UK.
Online vendor Clove has announced it will soon be ranging the much-delayed storage variant in the black colourway, which can be reserved right now on its website. Although at £600 (inc. VAT), the asking price isn't exactly chump change, that’s still £100 cheaper than the equivalent model of the Apple iPhone 5.
However, it’s not guaranteed that the highest-end iteration of Sammy's phone will even be released. The retailer said it would wait two weeks to gauge demand before taking stock of the handset. So if there aren’t enough pre-orders, it will likely not be sold after all. Not to mention, stock might be available for another two months.
Still, the success of the Galaxy S3, which sold over 30 million units since landing back in May, should be reason enough to be optimistic if you’re still waiting to pick one up with even more storage capacity.
Samsung is also due to release an LTE version of the S3, to take advantage of the launch of UK’s first-ever 4G network, EE, which went live last week. The take-up of that is likely to impact whether or not the 64GB model will be as successful. Whatever the case, we’ll know soon enough.
