Microsoft has begun pushing out a new software update for the HTC Windows 8X that squashes a pesky bug and adds some new features as well.
Codenamed Portico, the update is not a major refresh per se but is pretty substantial nonetheless as it addresses an annoying issue with the handset’s WLAN connectivity whereby it was frequently losing connection when the screen was turned off.
Additionally, it brings improvements to the SMS department, which includes the ability to reject an incoming call with a text reply, save unsent messages to a ‘Drafts' folder and ‘select all’ messages in a folder for mass deletion.
That’s pretty much it. You can see the changes in the video below, courtesy of WMExperts. It’s unclear whether the update will be rolled out for other device too, but we assume it will anyway given the nature of the enhancements it brings.
Owners of the unlocked version of the 8X should be able to grab it right away as an over-the-air download, but the usual delays can be expected for contract customers and select territories.
