Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean to hit Samsung Galaxy Note imminently

Samsung Galaxy Note owners will be able to update their phablet to the latest version of Android any day now, reports suggest, adding some triffic new features to the handset.

Conjecture that Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) will be available to download for Samsung’s original smartphone-tablet hybrid stems from the eagle-eyed sorts at Sam Mobile, who noticed that a service manual for Note has been posted on Samsung’s official site.

Mindful that when Samsung put up the manual for the Galaxy S2, Jelly Bean began rolling out shortly after, the site posits that it’s fairly safe bet that the new software will be along for the Note very soon too.

Before you get too excited, however, it’s worth remembering that the revamped OS will initially solely be available for Note handsets bought off-contract and SIM free.

Those of you who own network-branded kits that you picked up on a monthly contract are likely to face a longer wait while your carriers conducts tests to ensure Android 4.1.2 works with its proprietary services, apps and whatever else.

Samsung's Galaxy Note Jelly Bean rollout started earlier this month in Poland, before seeming to come to some kind of hiatus.

Features it adds to the handset include Multi-View functionality to allow owners to open up multiple apps separately and use them in different windows simultaneously.
