Rumours that the next full-size iPad will cop a few moves from its smaller stablemate looked a bit more credible today, after images purportedly of a case for the iPad 5 leaked online.
Sourced by MacRumors, snaps of a Hard Candy case for the fifth-gen slate next to one for the iPad mini and the current standard-sized iPad appear to show that the iPad 5 will feature trimmer bezels on the left and right of the screen and a slimmer design.
This chimes with a slew of separate reports about the so-called iPad 5 in recent weeks based on leaks from Apple’s supply chain.
The iPad 5 case also appears to feature dual apertures at the foot of the device, which the consensus seems to be could be for iPad mini-style stereo speakers.
The appearance of the third-party cases, which experience tells us is a far from solid indicator of what to expect from gadgets in phone-makers’ product pipeline, comes amid speculation that the iPad 5 will also borrow the iPad mini’s G/F2 (DITO) thin-film-style touchscreen technology and ditch the glass-on-glass touchscreen that's on board the current model.
Some industry analysts forecast that Apple could bring the iPad 5 to market as early as April, with the next iteration of the iPad mini not likely to tip up until much later in the year.
