iPhone 5 price cut on Phones 4u ahead of Galaxy S4 release

Phones 4u has slashed the price of the iPhone 5 on contract, offering the handset free on what it’s calling the ‘cheapest unlimited package’ around.

The high street retailer has confirmed to uSwitch Tech that customers no longer need to fork out an upfront fee for Apple’s premier smartphone, which is currently available on the Orange Works tariff from £36 per month on a two-year term.

What’s more, buyers even have the option of receiving either a £100 automatic cashback (paid after the first month of the contract) or even sweeter £180, which can be redeemed by sending the retailer the 9th, 12th, 15th and 18th bills.

The latter effectively means you’ll be paying just £28.50 a month for the handset, which gets you unlimited minutes, texts and 1GB of data.

Orange’s sister network T-Mobile, is ranging the iPhone 5 for the same monthly outlay with unlimited minutes and texts, but for will require you to fork out a not-so-appealing £99 asking price for the handset itself.

Launched in November last year, the iPhone 5 features a four-inch Retina display with a 326 ppi density, a brawny A6 processor and an eight-megapixel camera.

It’s also 4G enabled, which means if you wanted to, you could easily upgrade your 3G Orange tariff to EE’s superfast LTE network.

Phone 4u price cut for the iPhone 5 comes on the week the freshly announced Samsung Galaxy S4 goes on pre-order.

The latest flagship Galaxy S smartphone launches on April 26th in the UK, as Samsung looks to press its advantage against Apple as the world’s leading mobile manufacturer.
