Samsung Galaxy S4: EE confirms 4G support, starts pre-registration

EE has quashed rumours that the Samsung Galaxy S4 might not offer 4G support in the UK, after launching a customer pre-registration page for the soon-to-land handset.

The page, which went live last night, offers would-be owners the chance to register for “updates on launch dates, prices and plans” for the S4 from the UK’s only 4G carrier. So far, so commonplace, no?

Of much more interest to us is the fact that it also features the ‘sell’ that the phone is “faster on 4GEE, only from EE” – a statement that puts paid to airy speculation that the version of the S4 sold in the UK might be a 3G-only iteration.

EE is the third major UK player to start pre-registration for Samsung’s next flagship phone, after Three and Phones 4U launched their own customer-capture schemes earlier this week.

Set to be unveiled on March 14th at a press event in New York, the Galaxy S4’s spec sheet is expected to take in a larger five-inch AMOLED full HD screen, an eight-core Exynos processor and a 13 megapixel Samsung Orb camera capable of 360-degree snaps.

The phone’s USPs are also thought to include touch-free gesture controls and eye-tracking technology to allow owners to pause video and scroll through pages using their eye movements alone.
