Samsung Galaxy S4 to feature exclusive TripAdvisor integration

Samsung’s latest Galaxy smartphone will come preloaded with a TripAdvisor app and features powered by the hugely popular travel website.

TripAdvisor has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be the only smartphone to have its app pre-installed, along with functions exclusive to the handset, such as a single sign-on with a Samsung user account, the ability to add details of hotels and flights on TripAdvisor into the phone’s native calendar app, and the ability to load contact information for hotels and attractions in Contacts.

The on board Travel Widget, meanwhile, will pull images of popular travel destinations and attractions around the world, which users will be able to ‘star’ to add to their ‘Saves’ list in the TripAdvisor app, or tap the image to see more details about the location in the app such as reviews, contact information and more photos.

Another new feature is City Information in the Samsung Story Album, which allows users to create a digital photo album of their travels.

Galaxy S4 owners will opt to see a slideshow of travel photos from around the world on their lock screen.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Samsung to preload the TripAdvisor mobile app on the new Samsung Galaxy S4,” says Steve Kaufer, chief executive officer and co-founder of TripAdvisor.

“The combination of more than 100 million TripAdvisor traveler reviews and opinions with our inspirational travel photos on the latest Samsung device will provide a perfect companion for modern travellers.”
