Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to pack metal frame in wake of strong HTC One sales?

Samsung could opt for a higher-end, heavier construction for the Galaxy Note 3, reports suggest, as it responds to a favourable consumer response to the HTC One’s metal frame.

According to a source cited by Sam Mobile, Samsung is “worried” by the slew of positive reviews that the HTC One, which is fashioned from aluminium, picked up in the tech press and mainstream media.

In response, the South Korean tech giant will ditch the plastic construction of the previous two Galaxy Note models for premium materials when the Galaxy Note 3 lands later this year, it’s claimed.

The same source also claims that the Note 3 will introduce a slew of software features and tweaks to Samsung’s Nature UX user interface not seen on the recently launched Galaxy S4.

We’re assuming these will take advantage of the stylus that has been a feature of both previous Note handsets, perhaps combining it with the floating touch interface that’s front and centre on the S4.

And rounding off the revelations from the site’s typically shadowy source is the third-gen Samsung phablet will not take design cues from the S4, as the phone-maker bids to further differentiate the Note range from its flagship smartphone.

Earlier rumours suggest that the Note 3 will make its debut in September and will pack a 6.0” full HD AMOLED display, an Exynos 5 octa-core processor, LTE and a 13-megapixel camera.
