The Sony Xperia SP has landed on pay as you go on T-Mobile and sister network Orange for a penny shy of £250, as Sony looks to make good on the 4m-selling success of the Xperia Z.
Billed as the Xperia Z’s slightly less lavishly specc’d sibling (but only slightly), the Xperia SP’s features take in a 4.6-inch, 720p display, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and an eight-megapixel camera.
Even more impressively at this price point it’s got 4G support too and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box.
At the time of writing, the phone was still listed as ‘coming soon’ on Three and O2. But we’ll be sure to let you know how said carriers’ deals compare when they break cover with them.
Sony’s recent renaissance has been attributed to a number of factors. But almost certainly chief among them with committed tech fans was the decision to leave customisations to the Android OS to a minimum on its most recent smartphones.
