Just a day after dropping a cool $1 billion to acquire Tumblr, Yahoo! has revealed a new version of its Flickr Android app, bringing it in line with the rejigged iOS version, released at the end of 2012.
Speaking at an event in New York, Yahoo! boss Marissa Meyer said that the app "maintains your photos’ original quality, so every image you take, edit, share, or view on your phone or tablet looks spectacular".
The new look app is much cleaner and easier to use than the previous clunky edition, which had come in for some serious flak from users on Google’s Play Store.
What’s more, it also works in conjunction with Flickr’s new offer of 1TB of free storage, meaning you can access, tweak and comment on virtually limitless numbers of images wherever you happen to be. The only issue is that all that free space is ad-supported.
With this update, the free storage and its Tumblr buyout, it seems Yahoo! is finally heading back to the top.
