Nokia has finally brought its nifty LiveSight function to its Here Maps app. The new addition comes six months after the Finns promised it would load up its Windows Phones with the immersive mapping layer.
Punters with Windows Phone 8 can download the update to Here Maps now. The approach is much the same as Espoo’s ace City Lens app: scanning an area with your phone using LiveSight serves up instant details of surrounding businesses and points of interest, with numbers, email and web addresses all just a tap away.
What’s more it also offers offline access, so you can scan an area for details even when you have got a data connection.
That’s particularly handy when you’re abroad and can’t stomach paying hefty roaming costs.
Nokia claims that LiveSight offers a glimpse into the future. If that is the case, don’t be surprised to see key mapping rivals serve up something similar over the next few months.
