Giffgaff is doubling its call-minutes allowance with a new promotion, in an aggressive gambit that further undercuts larger networks.
The cut-price carrier is now offering 500 minutes per month – up from 250 – when customers sign up for its £10 per month Goodybag.
The SIM-only tariff, which is available for standard SIMs, MicroSIMs, Nano SIM that features in the iPhone 5, also includes a monthly allowance of 1GB of data, unlimited text messages and unlimited calls to Giffgaff customers.
Giffgaff’s move comes ahead of just announced plans for “big improvements” to international call rates at the end of the month.
Billed as the “mobile network run by you”, Giffgaff’s positioning as a self-proclaimed new kind of community provider extends to offering £5 for every member that subscribers recruit and so-called ‘payback points for answering questions from other customers.
