Nokia’s much-hyped 41-megapixel camera phone, codenamed EOS, is set to be called the Nokia Lumia 1020. The Windows Phone-packing device is expected to be unveiled at a huge event in New York on July 11th.
The news comes from evleaks, a man renowned for getting these kind of tech gossip stories spot on. In a brief tweet he simply said: ‘EOS = Nokia Lumia 1020”.
Nokia has already dabbled with a phone rocking a 41-megapixel sensor, its Pureview 808. However, the Lumia 1020 will be the first to use Microsoft’s critically acclaimed but commercially flakey mobile OS.
The Lumia 1020 will be aimed directly at Samsung’s optical zoom-packing Galaxy S4 Zoom. It all suggests that the days of the megapixel wars are back with a vengeance.
