Samsung has lifted the lid on the Galaxy S4 Active smartphone, teaming a more robust construction with the UX tweaks and spec-sheet highlights of the Galaxy S4.
Purportedly created to “enhance the life experiences of active users who want to stay connected even when they’re out exploring the most rugged mountain trails or the roughest rivers”, the Active is dust-resistant thanks a fully sealed design.
It’s also water-resistant to one meter when the phone is submerged for up to 30 minutes and comes bundled with a water-resistant earphone jack too, so you can listen to your tunes while you’re making like Jacques Cousteau.
Noteworthy specs, meanwhile, take in a five-inch Full HD TFT LCD screen, a 1.9 GHZ quad-core processor and a 2,600mAh battery. An eight-megapixel camera augmented by an Aqua Mode for taking snaps in the drink is in board too.
You’ll also get the full suite of Nature UX customisations, such as Smart Scroll tilt to scroll feature, alongside the SmartPause intelligent pause mode and Samsung’s S Health wellbeing tracker.
Availability and pricing have yet to be confirmed. But Phones4U has announced it will be ranging the phone from launch, which we're guessing will be within the next couple of weeks or so.
Samsung had been expected to lift the lid on the S4 Active, as well as the S4 Mini, at a special press event on June 20th. However, after showcasing both phones in the last week or so, the showcase is instead expected to focus on Samsung’s new Windows Phone handsets.
