Facebook-owned photo-sharing service Instagram appears to be deleting images uploaded to its servers via third party apps.
The news emerged after countless Windows Phone 8 users complained about friends not being able to see their handiwork after they’d put it on Instragram using the Instance app.
Those Windows Phone users say that while they can see their images, others can’t. Instance’s developer, Daniel Gary told The Verge that Instagram was “detecting when photos are not uploading via the official app”.
Instagram is not available on Windows Phone 8, with no plans to bring the hugely popular service to Microsoft’s OS.
A spokesman for the social network said that the update that caused the issue does “not specifically target any particular app or platform”.
Indeed, Windows Phone app 6tagram also appears to be suffering from the same problem.
This niggle comes just days after Nokia warned Microsoft needed to improve the apps it offered in its Windows Store in order to entice new users to its platform.
