LG has confirmed that the successor to its well-received Optimus G smartphone will be called in the G2.
The handset, which was detailed extensively in a leak last week, looks set to launch on August 7th, with LG holding a major event on that date in New York City.
While LG itself hasn’t revealed details, specs are known to include a lightning-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and a massive 5.2-inch, 1080p display.
Previous rumours have also suggested that the LG G2 will be used as the basis for a forthcoming Nexus 5 device.
Google’s current flagship phone, the Nexus 4, was largely based on the LG Optimus G, so this wouldn’t be a far–fetched suggestion.
Expect to hear plenty more gossip about the LG G2 before its launch in just a few short weeks.
