Nestle has confirmed that Android KitKat will be hitting Google-backed smartphones and tablets next month.
The confectionary brand let the news slip via its German Facebook page, sending Android fanboys into raptures.
An anonymous Nestle staffer told users about the October launch date when questioned under a post about the tie-up with Google, revealed earlier this month.
The date tallies with rumours surrounding the release of Google’s Nexus.
A number of reports have suggested that the Big G is planning a major event later in that month which will see the much-leaked, LG-made phone finally revealed.
Android KitKat features have yet to appear, although images purporting to shows its UI have slipped out online. The OS will have to go some to match iOS 7’s super speedy adoption rate, which apparently saw internet traffic double last week on its release.
Nexus phones and tablets are likely to get Android KitKat first, with Samsung, HTC and others asset to take their time in bringing Google’s newest efforts to their devices.
