Apple could be about to extend the colour palette it uses for tablets, after photos surfaced on the interwebs showing the iPad mini 2 in a spruce shade of grey.
Sourced by French site Nowhere Else and brought to wider attention by 9to5Mac, the photos show what appears to be the back casing for the second-gen Apple micro-slate in the same Space Grey shade as the iPhone 5s.
The snaps, which look pretty convincing to us, suggest that Apple could also be preparing champagne gold and silver-white models of the iPad mini 2, once again shadowing its approach to the just-released flagship smartphone.
Informed chatter indicates that the slate is set to show its face next month, meaning it might just tip up before many iPhone 5s buyers actually get their hands on the phone they’ve paid for.
For the first time, the iPad mini 2 is expected to feature a high-density Retina Display, as the delineation between the lower cost iPad and its bigger brother become less marked.
Apple is expected to fit the tablet with an A7 processor, beefing up its pixel-pushing power to compensate for what will be a more resource-hungry screen.
