HTC’s One Max will finally launch on October 15th, according to insiders. Rumour-mongers had originally pegged the super-sized phone for release way back at the start of September.
Taking design cues from the HTC One, the handset will come with a fingerprint scanner, as the Taiwanese mobile-maker looks to take on Apple and its Touch ID feature, currently found on the new iPhone 5s.
It’s unclear at the moment how the fingerprint scanner will work and what apps it will actually work with.
However, it’s likely that HTC will have its own proprietary extras that work in conjunction with the security-focused function.
The One Max will have a massive 6-inch screen, putting it alongside Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 and Sony’s new Z1 Ultra. It will also use the same Ultra Pixel camera tech as the One and One Mini.
HTC will be desperate for the device to succeed, with the company facing an operating loss and a slide in sales, as competition from Samsung, Google and Apple stiffens.
The handset should provide the perfect platform for its plethora of kooky accessories, especially the neat Mini+ phone add-on.
