Apple is yet to go all-in with its Touch ID fingerprint scanner, restricting it to its flagship iPhone 5S. However, a new spy shot suggests that the security-focused feature could be heading to a new model of the iPad Mini.
This blurry shot appears to show Apple’s pared-back slate with a Touch ID sensor instead of the standard-issue home button. Unfortunately, the pic cannot be verified, suggesting this is either an early prototype of Cupertino’s current iPad Mini with Retina Display, or an elaborate hoax.
Ahead of the launch of the new iPad Mini and iPad Air, rumours flew that Tim Cook would reveal a tablet using the tech. However, Apple appears to be content to test the water with the iPhone 5S, before rolling it out to more devices.
In other recent iPad gossip, Apple is said to be prepping a 12.9-inch pro edition of its tablet, with a release date allegedly locked in for spring next year.
