Google-owned Motorola has sent out invites to a UK press event on the 14th of January for an unnamed handset, but which uSwitch Tech has spotted is almost certainly the Moto X.
The image used in the UK invite, see above, is the same one used in the USA for an invitation to a showcase for the Moto X. And while that's not a cast-iron guarantee that both events will mark the launch of the same handset, it's a pretty strong indication nonetheless.
Our shot at the end of this piece comes courtesy of Slashgear, where the cropped version of the UK invite can be seen – only that was published on the 24th of July, 2012.
We contacted Motorola to ascertain whether the UK event is for the Moto X and received the following response:
"This event supports a new addition to the Motorola family of products within the UK market."
Motorola's Moto X is its Northern American flagship handset, which can be customised in 2,000 different ways – far more than the average phone.
It sports a 4.7-inch 1,280 x 720 AMOLED screen, while powered by a dual-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm MSM8960Pro Snapdragon processor.
Moto's latest effort also stands out for the always-listening voice commands feature, which means that Google Now can be activated by the words 'OK, Google' even when the phone is in standby mode.
We'll be attending the event, where we aim to bring you hands-on images and video of the UK version of the Moto X.
